Musician Profiles: Celebrating Racial Diversity video series

June 1, 2022

ICSOM is pleased to launch a new monthly video series Musician Profiles: Celebrating Racial Diversity. These one-on-one interviews will focus on our ICSOM Musicians of Color, their experiences, and how they view the need for racial diversity within our orchestras.

“This important video series not only highlights Musicians of Color but also provides a window into our shared values,” said Kenneth Thompkins, Co-Chair of ICSOM’s DEI Committee and Principal Trombone of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. "We are fortunate to live in a time when our differences are not seen as detriments, but as threads of our common humanity.”

“What I love about Celebrating Racial Diversity is how our Musicians of Color share their whole self,” added Alberto Suarez, Co-Chair of ICSOM’s DEI Committee and Principal Horn of the Kansas City Symphony. “These stories are unique and will no longer go unheard.”
